I have never seen a camel race, which is like an open-course horse race sans jockey, so I’m glad I got to catch a glimpse of it through this doc. The vibrancy of the culture shines through. I love the shot of the men and camels waiting behind the green tarp, the camels’ anxious heads peeking through. Their shadows on the tarp feed into the intriguing and mysterious quality of this cultural tradition. I love the dusty aesthetic of the picture, which fits the tone nicely. The colors punch through the endless bleached sand of Dubai’s desert, and by the end of the race you choose a favorite camel and are cheering them on. I laughed when the voice of the commentator emerged through the music. Thanks for sharing this beautiful and exciting documentary!
